While most would think this is a gaffe, it is quite intentional, via RCP:

“No matter who you are. No matter where you can came from. No matter what you look like. No matter whether your ancestors landed here on Ellis Island or came here on slave ships or came across the Rio Grande, we are all connected. We will rise and fall together. That’s the vision of America I’ve got, that’s the idea of the heart of America,” President Obama said at a fundraiser in San Francisco.

“That’s the idea of the heart of our campaign,” Obama added. emphasis mine

Yep. Together as one. The collective. Kumbaya. Obama must start courting the Latino vote as he dipped in the polls in that voting bloc. However, it cannot be ignored that those who came to the United States on slave ships were not subject to immigration laws (obviously) and those who landed at Ellis Island came here legally. However, those who cross the Rio Grande are entering the US illegally.

So, with Obama’s comments, it is fair to assume that he supports the illegal activity of illegally entering the US via the Rio Grande (or other borders) and that illegal activity should be rewarded with the gift of US citizenship on our dime. My how times have changed.

Finally, what are the shared sacrifices illegal immigrants and those who do not pay taxes is Obama referring to?
