I just made a donation in Michelle Malkin’s honor to the GOP.

Let me say right up front, I’m not a religious guy. I support Republicans because they are the party of Small Business, they are the party of Liberty.

On the moral stuff, the personal stuff, the family stuff, I’m a State’s Rights guy. The Federal government isn’t meant to concern itself with social policy. You don’t like something, you can vote with your feet.

Also, I like strippers. Not so much strippers themselves, or even strip clubs anymore (I’m getting old), but I like living in a country unafraid of pole dancing. And in my youth, I was certainly comfy with two drink minimums and single moms working their way through college. In 1996, I picked up a truck load of surfers in Newport Beach, drove them to go vote for Bob Dole, and then we high tailed it to Mermaids next to the John Wayne Airport.

Life isn’t all debauchery. Character still counts. Everyone doesn’t have to be me. So unless they are knocking on my door, or trying to teach my kid evolution is a lie, Christians don’t bother me in the slightest. I know many Christians are my brother in the land of live and let live.

Growing up, my favorite Republicans were Roger Stone and Dick Morris… this is my Republican party.

So here’s my question: Who says the GOP can’t be courting Young Eagles at strip clubs? Are we dumb? When I heard about it, the only thing I worried about was did the Young Eagles donate? How much? Did they have a good time? Will they donate again?

Fund raising routinely spends lavishly. Did the donors donate more than was spent? If so… woot!

Yes, yes, I get it, this is a problem with, “optics.”

Well not for me it isn’t. And not for an army of liberty loving guys (and gals) who do not spend Sunday mornings in church. The only problem we have with optics, is moralist types acting like the GOP joined them and not the other way around.

Michael Steele did not go to a strip club. But, if he did, he would not be spending Michelle’s money on table dances. Karl Rove should have told Leno, “Well, that’s not my cup of tea, but Jay we’ll still take your checks.” Watching him buckle and call someone a pervert on Late Night TV made my stomach turn.

Finally, both Democrats and Republicans have got racists in their party. Generally, they are a few of the white older guys… who will be dead soon. Until then, Michael Steele is correct blacks, “have a slimmer margin for error.” We’re not talking about affirmative action here, but we aren’t ignorant of reality either.

Michael Steele did not say Republicans are racist. But still some idiots in the GOP got up on their high horse and acted like that’s what was said.

Republicans are not building a world where Michelle Malkin is actually happy. Because if it is, I quit. Our big tent has plenty of room for five cent views of the bearded lady.

We are in a war for Capitalism, not a war for Christianity. Liberty, not Prudery. And the folks calling for Michael Steele’s scalp need get out their wallets and get on board with the free market, even if it isn’t wearing Laura Ashley…. he can spend their money on a church picnic.
