PULASKI COUNTY, Ky., May 7 (UPI) —

Police are starting to release additional details about a story that sounds more like something that would have happened at the Bates Motel instead of in Kentuckyâ € ¦

A deceased Kentucky man allegedly kept his dead mother’s body in a freezer for three years while he was spending her Social Security checks.

When the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office began to investigate what exactly happened to Faye Whiteford, it is believed that Jon Whiteford dumped her body at an empty house and then killed himself.

The Social Security Administration contacted Sheriff Todd Wood about Faye in February, and he began to investigate after learning that Whiteford had control of her finances.

When Whiteford was finally located, he said the house he had been living in had been repossessed and refused to say where his mother was.

"Jon stored her in a freezer from 2011 until around Christmas of 2013 when he was forced to leave his home," said Lt. Brett Whitaker of the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department.

During a later interview with Whiteford on March 29 at the house next door to his repossessed home, he pulled out a pistol and killed himself in front of a deputy.

"He just got himself into trouble, and once you do something like that, there is really no way out," friend Al Fried said of Whiteford while speaking with Lex 18. "He couldn’t face it and that’s probably why he ended his life. He wasn’t a bad person, it’s just that he did one bad thing and from that one bad thing led to other bad things."

Faye’s body was found wrapped up in a tarp in neighboring Wayne County on April 23.
