New York (AFP) – The Buffalo Bills have sent a feast of Buffalo wings to their NFL rivals the Cincinnati Bengals as a thank-you gift for helping the Bills snap a 19-year playoff drought.

The Bengals’ 31-27 victory at Baltimore last Sunday combined with Buffalo’s 22-16 triumph at Miami lifted the Bills over Baltimore and into the playoffs for the first time since 1999.

The Bills, who will visit Jacksonville for a first-round playoff clash on Sunday, haven’t won a playoff game since the 1995 campaign, two years after suffering their fourth Super Bowl defeat in as many years.

The Bills said on Twitter that they would send the Buffalo wings, a traditional food from their home city featuring chicken wings covered in spicy sauce served with vegetables and blue cheese sauce, to the Bengals as a way of saying thanks for helping them reach the post-season.

The Bills made good on their vow Thursday night, tweeting a photo from “Duff’s Famous Wings” and a list of what was headed to Cincinnati.

The feast, according to a team tweet, includes 1,440 chicken wings, 90 pounds of celery, 30 pounds of carrots, nine gallons of wing sauce and six gallons of blue cheese “And a TON of thank you’s from Buffalo!”

The Bengals announced plans to donate the spread to the Children’s Home Autism High School in Cincinnati.

Bills fans also boosted support for Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton’s charity foundation after his late touchdown pass to beat the Ravens. On Twitter Dalton thanked over 14,000 donors who contributed more than $315,000.
