Los Angeles (AFP) – Green Bay Packers defensive tackle Letroy Guion was hit with a four-game suspension on Tuesday after violating league rules on performance-enhancing drugs, the NFL confirmed.

Guion, 29, will miss the first four games of the 2017 season as a result of the infraction.

Details of the offence were not immediately available but it is the second time Guion has faced a suspension in his career.

He was suspended for three games in 2015 after being caught in possession of marijuana and a firearm.

Guion started 15 games for the Packers last year, helping Green Bay advance to the National Football Conference Championship game where they were beaten by the Atlanta Falcons.

He has started 35 games for the Packers since joining after spending six seasons with the Minnesota Vikings.
