Jan. 20 (UPI) — An Oregon man collected $50,000 from a second chance lottery drawing after previously winning $10,000 from a second chance drawing fewer than four years earlier.
Peter Gilbert, of Beaverton, told Oregon Lottery officials he entered a non-winning Crossword Inferno scratch-off ticket into the Second Chance Scratch-it drawing, winning a $50,000 jackpot.
Gilbert said second chance drawings have paid off for him in the past.
“In May 2016, I won $10,000 in the Second Chance drawing,” Gilbert said. “So, when I told a friend of mine that I’d won $50,000 this time, he decided to start calling me ‘Re-Pete!'”
Gilbert said he is hoping to turn his luck into a “three-Pete” by winning Mega Millions or Powerball.
“Winning this prize is not life-changing,” he said, “but it is life affirming.”
