New Orleans Pelicans guard Dejounte Murray underwent successful surgery on a fractured left hand and will miss four to six weeks of the NBA season, the team announced on Friday.
The 28-year-old suffered the injury on Wednesday in a 123-111 season-opening home victory over the Chicago Bulls.
Murray, obtained from Atlanta in a trade last July, had 14 points, 10 assists and eight rebounds in the match before the fourth-quarter injury.
The timetable for Murray would see him return in late November or early December and miss from 15 to 22 games, with a worst-case comeback contest on December 7 against visiting Oklahoma City.
Murray has averaged 15.4 points, 5.8 rebounds and 5.3 assists over seven career NBA seasons, five with San Antonio and the past two at Atlanta.
