Nov. 13 (UPI) — Police are investigating burglaries that occurred at the homes of Kansas City Chiefs players Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, and Mahomes decided to speak out about them.
“Obviously it’s frustrating, disappointing,” Mahomes said Wednesday at a press conference when asked about the break-ins. “But I can’t get into too many of the details because the investigation is still ongoing.”
According to reports, four police officers were dispatched to Mahomes’ home in Belton just after midnight Oct. 6 after an unidentified man called in, “indicating a residence had been broken into,” according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.
The report did not say if anything was stolen, and did not mention Mahomes by name. However, the address matched public records for him.
In a separate incident, police in Kansas are investigating a burglary Oct. 7 at a Leawood address that matches that of Kelce, who may of been in the middle of a Monday Night Football game at home against the New Orleans Saints.
Police said the intruder arrived at Kelce’s home after 7:30 p.m. local time and caused roughly $1,000 in damage to a back door. The thief fled the scene with cash totaling $20,000, reports said.
