TONTITOWN, Ark., March 10 (UPI) — Josh Duggar completed his rehab stint this week, more than six months after entering a long-term residential facility.
The Duggar family confirmed the 28-year-old disgraced reality star is home in a statement Thursday. Duggar entered rehab in August after admitting to cheating on wife Anna Duggar, and was reportedly treated at Reformers Unanimous in Rockford, Ill.
“It was a crucial first step in recovery and healing for Josh,” the Duggars wrote on their website. “Josh has now returned to Arkansas, where he will continue professional counseling and focus on rebuilding relationships with his family.”
“We look to God for help and guidance and place all of our trust in Him,” the family added. “We are forever grateful for the love and prayers offered by so many and hope you will continue to pray in the days ahead.”
Josh confessed to his infidelity after being linked to an Ashley Madison account in mid-August. The news came just three months after he admitted to molesting five girls, including sisters Jill Duggar and Jessa Duggar, as a teenager.
“I definitely have forgiven Josh,” Jessa recently told People. “It is a process, though, that you have to work through in your heart. And trust is not quickly rebuilt. It is something that takes a while. We love him very much, though, and we are very hopeful for the future.”
Josh and Anna married in 2008 and share 6-year-old Mackynzie, 4-year-old Michael, 2-year-old Marcus and 7-month-old Meredith. A source told People the youngsters are thrilled about their dad’s return, saying, “If nothing else, this is a happy time for their kids.”
The Duggar family’s TLC reality show, 19 Kids & Counting, was canceled in the wake of the scandal. Jill, Jessa and the older Duggar children will return on a new series Jill & Jessa: Counting On on March 15.
