June 1 (UPI) — Jordan Fisher will return to star in the Broadway musical Dear Evan Hansen.
The 27-year-old singer and actor announced on Tuesday’s episode of Good Morning America that he will reprise the lead role of Evan Hansen when the musical returns to Broadway in December.
“I am thrilled to announce officially that I am reopening the show with this amazing cast here on Broadway, December 11th,” Fisher said.
“I haven’t been back to the city since everything shut down last March. It’s the longest I’ve ever been away from the city,” he added. “We’re just thrilled to be back together and excited to make magic again.”

Dear Evan Hansen features music and lyrics by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul and a book by Steven Levenson. The musical originally opened on Broadway in 2016.
Fisher took over the role of Evan Hansen in 2020. The musical was later shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Fisher is also known for playing Holden on Liv and Maddie and John Ambrose in To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You. He will play Bart Allen, aka Impulse, in The Flash Season 7.
Universal Pictures is developing a film adaptation of Dear Evan Hansen starring Ben Platt, who originated the role of Evan Hansen on Broadway. The movie will open in theaters Sept. 24.
