Dolphins to name Eric Studesville, George Godsey as co-offensive coordinators

Feb. 2 (UPI) — The Miami Dolphins are elevating Eric Studesville and George Godsey to co-offensive coordinator positions.

League sources told ESPN and NFL Media on Tuesday that it will be a collaboration between Studesville and Godsey to run the Dolphins’ offense in 2021. It remains unclear who will call plays for the team.

Together, Studesville and Godsey will replace Chan Gailey, who resigned as offensive coordinator last month.

Miami previously interviewed Pep Hamilton, Matt Canada, Mike McDaniel, Studesville and Godsey for the offensive coordinator position. According to ESPN, the Dolphins felt the duo of Studesville and Godsey would be better than an outside hire.

Studesville was the Dolphins’ running backs coach and run game coordinator last season. He also has coached with the New York Giants, Buffalo Bills, Denver Broncos and Chicago Bears.

Godsey served as the Dolphins’ tight ends coach the past two seasons. However, he moved over to help with the team’s quarterbacks this past season. He has worked extensively with quarterbacks in the past, coaching the Detroit Lions’ signal-callers in 2018 and the Houston Texans’ quarterbacks in 2014.

The 42-year-old Godsey also coached tight ends with the New England Patriots from 2012-13. He was an offensive assistant for the franchise in 2011.

This will be the Dolphins’ third offensive coordinator change in as many years.
