Brandon Williams: Indianapolis Colts sign TE, put TE Swoope on I.R.

Sept. 4 (UPI) — Free agent Brandon Williams has signed with the Indianapolis Colts.

Indianapolis announced the move on Monday.

The Colts placed tight end Erik Swoope on injured reserve in a corresponding move. Indianapolis also signed wide recever Krishawn Hogan, nose tackle Joey Mbu and tackle Andrew Wylie.

Williams originally signed with the Colts on March 20 as an unrestricted free agent. He has six receptions for 80 yards in 45 career games. Williams played for the Carolina Panthers from 2013 to 2015 before joining the Miami Dolphins in 2015. He played for the Seattle Seahawks last season. He has one career start. Williams is listed at 6-foot-3, 260 pounds.

Swoope has 15 receptions for 297 yards and a touchdown in 17 career games for the Indianapolis Colts. He spent his rookie year in 2014 on the Colts’ practice squad. Swoope played in one game with the team in 2015. In 2016 he played in all 16 games and had four starts.

Hogan originally entered the NFL in May as an undrafted free agent with the Arizona Cardinals. He was waived on Sept. 2. He had 263 catches for 4,395 yards and 42 touchdowns in 40 games at Marian during his college career. Mbu spent time with the Washington Redskins and Atlanta Falcons practice squads last season. He had four tackles in two games in 2015 for the Falcons. Wylie entered the NFL in May as an undrafted free agent for the Colts. He was waived on Sept. 2. He is listed at 6-foot-6, 309 pounds.
