Nov. 16 (UPI) — Ariana Grande is giving fans a rare glimpse of her natural, short hair.
The 25-year-old singer ditched her signature ponytail in an Instagram post Thursday showing her lob haircut.
Grande, whose hair falls just past her shoulders, used a bunny filter in the photo. The post had received over 3.4 million likes as of Friday morning, with many complimenting the star’s new look in the comments.
“omg I love the cut! Makes me wanna cut my hair lol,” one person wrote.
“So cute with this haircut,” another added.
Grande is rarely seen without a long, high ponytail. She joked about the look in an interview with The Fader in May after wearing a low ponytail for the cover art of her single “No Tears Left to Cry.”
“The pony has also gone through an evolution, and I’m proud of that,” the star said. “Old pony? I don’t know if she’s that girl. But new pony? I like her.”
The “Thank U, Next” singer explained to fans in a Facebook post in 2014 that she wears ponytail hair extensions because her own hair is damaged from years of dyeing it for the Nickelodeon series Sam & Cat.
“So as annoying as it is for y’all to have to look at the same hair style all the time, it’s all that works for now (AND I’m comfortable for the first time in years),” the singer said.
“And trust me, it’s even more difficult for me to have to wait forever for my natural hair to grow back,” she added. “So PLEASE gimme a break about the hair (or just don’t look at me lol).”
Grande released “Thank U, Next” this month after ending her engagement to Pete Davidson. The song will appear on her forthcoming album of the same name.
