Newly released video shows two media activists in Raqqa, Syria being killed by ISIS executioners. Both men were 21-years -old. Their names were Bashar Abdul Atheem and Faisal Hasan Al Habib. Unconfirmed reports suggest they worked for the group Raqqa is Being Slaughtered Silently.
The organization regularly tweets photos and information from ISIS-occupied territory and is one of the main sources relaying what the situation on the ground is like to the West.
The video which ISIS published is seven minutes long, and is titled, “They are the Enemy and This is a Warning.”
In the high-production-value video, an interrogator asks the pair of activists to tell him their names, where their homes are, and their religious beliefs.
The two young men are dressed in orange jumpsuits, and the interrogator wears a balaclava and camouflage fatigues.
The men admit to filming and photographing ISIS-controlled areas and sending the video abroad.
They also admit that they had distributed anti-ISIS brochures, critical of the so-called caliphate’s implementation of Sharia law.
Abu Muhamad, an activist with Raqqa is Being Slaughtered Silently, said that ISIS has recently arrested 25 other young men on similar charges.
He also stated that interacting with anti-ISIS groups on social media has been made illegal by the terror group.
The video cuts to the pair tied to a tree trunk. Two executioners, dressed like the interrogator, come and shoot both young men in the head.
Then, the video replays the graphic executions in slow motion.
Following the executions, a blurred image of an older man, also dressed in an orange jumpsuit, identifying as Mohammad Mustafa, is shown, as a sort of “preview” for more upcoming videos.
This is not the first time ISIS has executed media activists for speaking out against their brutality.
In April, the group released video of the execution of another alleged Raqqa is Being Slaughtered Silently activist. His name was not released by the terror group.
In March, ISIS executed a television journalist based in Mosul, Iraq, for helping other journalists escape ISIS-controlled territory. His name was Ala Mazn Abdullah.
The terror group also brutally murdered American journalist James Foley in 2014 and also published a graphic video of that execution.
