The National Iranian American Council (NIAC), an alleged pro-regime lobbying group based in Washington, D.C., has released an action alert telling its followers, “You Have 24 Hours to Stop Bibi.”
The news comes in the aftermath of Breitbart News’s exposé that found the White House National Security Council Director for Iran, Sahar Nowrouzzadeh, is a former employee of the radical anti-Israel and alleged pro-regime group.
NIAC urged its supporters to call Congress and convince their representatives that they should not have a say in the ongoing talks involving Iran’s nuclear program. The NIAC alert pits Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu against the American people, suggesting that he is trying to “sabotage” a “good deal” with the Mullahs.
“The Iran Nuclear Review Act, sponsored by Senators Bob Corker (R-TN) and Robert Menendez (D-NJ), would empower Congress to intervene in the talks. If the Corker-Menendez bill passes, all 535 members of Congress will insert themselves into the talks and have the power to veto any deal,” warns the NIAC release.
The memo continues:
To stop Bibi and his pals on Capitol Hill, the next eight hours will be crucial. Tomorrow the Senate Foreign Relations Committee will take the first votes on the bill. This evening, Senators’ offices will count the numbers of calls and emails they receive from constituents on each side of this issue – and the outcome of those tallies could quite literally change history.
Recently, the group struck a similar tone when it bought a full-page ad in the New York Times opposing Netanyahu’s speech to Congress. The ad buy—which asked readers to choose their president: Benjamin Netanyahu or Barack Obama—was described by the Boston Globe’s Jeff Jacoby as a “slimy ad” that “plays the disloyalty card,”
Politico reported last week that the group was working with the White House on a strategy to present the Iran deal’s basic framework as having achieved a positive outcome.
NIAC’s action alert comes in the wake of the revelation that one of its directors spoke at a conspiratorial, anti-Israel organization’s conference last week, which in the past has hosted Holocaust deniers and 9/11 truthers. During his speech at the Friday conference, NIAC Research Director Reza Marashi blamed Jews for America’s support for Israel’s supposed repression of Palestinians.
