Report: Millions of Dollars in Ebola Aid Missing in Sierra Leone

Millions of dollars intended to combat Ebola in Sierra Leone have gone missing, according to a national auditor report.

Over $3.3 million lack paperwork needed to track where the internal emergency funds are or went.

Sierra Leone, which has had over 11,000 Ebola cases and 3,363 deaths during the recent Ebola crisis, spent over $19 million on its Ebola epidemic, not including funds from the United Nations or outside charities.

According to the New York Times, “Around one-third of the $2.9 billion pledged by international donors had not reached Sierra Leone, Guinea, and Liberia by the end of 2014.”

The UN wants $1 billion more to fight Ebola.
