Farage: Muslim Ghettos in Europe are ‘Sharia-Run No-Go Zones’ for Police

Just days after an American terrorism expert was widely ridiculed for calling Birmingham a “Muslim only city”, UK Independence Party leader Nigel Farage has told Fox News that there are indeed areas of the UK that have been transformed into ‘Muslim ghettos’, where non-Muslims are excluded.

In an interview with Sean Hannity last night on the causes of the Paris massacres, Farage said “We have, through mass immigration and through not checking the details of those people who have come to our countries, we have allowed big ghettos to develop and when it comes to confronting tough issues we’re run a mile and that is why we’re in the mess we’re in. We’ve been led very badly.”

On Sunday night, Steve Emerson, an expert on terrorism told Fox News: “In Britain, it’s not just no-go zones, there are actual cities like Birmingham that are totally Muslim where non-Muslims just simply don’t go in.

“[In] parts of London, there are actually Muslim religious police that actually beat and actually wound seriously anyone who doesn’t dress according to Muslim, religious Muslim attire.”

Mr Emerson was widely criticised and ridiculed for his comments, and was the subject of a twitter campaign. He later issued a grovelling apology stating “I have clearly made a terrible error for which I am deeply sorry. My comments about Birmingham were totally in error. And I am issuing an apology and correction on my website immediately for having made this comment about the beautiful city of Birmingham.”

However, in 2009 the Birmingham Mail published an article headlined “The Areas of Birmingham that are No Go Areas for White People.” They cite a report from Manchester University which found that by the year 2021 white Britons will be in the minority in the city of Leicester, followed by Birmingham by 2024. Meanwhile, the number of people of Pakistani heritage in Birmingham will have increased to 48 percent, up from 13 percent in 2007.

They quote one resident, an anonymous male in his 40s, who told researchers that a street sign in an area with a high Asian population had been spray painted with “no whites after 8:30”.

He said: “Perhaps I need to work harder in understanding the different cultures and things like that, but there’s things that I see when I’m driving around Birmingham that I shouldn’t be happening.

“There’s these areas that have completely been took over… and you do feel very uneasy. Not just me, and I only drive into these areas, never actually walk into these areas, I just wouldn’t. Just in case I did do something that I… because of their culture or their religion it was a threat or it was an insult or something, because we don’t understand.

“All of a sudden we’ve got to try and understand all these different things that have been thrown at us. And I think it’s very, very difficult for a lot of people.”

Meanwhile in Waltham Forest, London, 20,000 bright yellow leaflets proclaiming “You are entering a Sharia controlled zone. Islamic rules enforced” were printed in 2011. They were stuck to lampposts and pillar boxes and placed in shop windows.

Abu Izzadeen, the self-styled “Director for Waltham Forest Muslims” told the Daily Mail “This is the first step towards turning Britain into an Islamic state. There are nearly three million Muslims in this country. Islam is a sleeping giant that is waking. We have moved on from the debate about the provision of halal meat to more political issues.

“Twenty-five areas around Britain have large Muslim populations, including Bradford, Dewsbury, Leicester and Luton. We want to turn them all into Islamic Emirates, where the excesses of Western civilisation are not tolerated.”

More recently a group of Sharia enforcers calling themselves the Muslim London Patrol filmed themselves in Whitechapel, London enforcing Sharia law on passers-by. Shouting “this is a Muslim area!”, they confront one man carrying a can of beer to tell him “no alcohol allowed”.

One gang member shouts “Get him to pour it out, pour it out, Muslim area. Alcohol bad. This is a Muslim area. This area is a Muslim area. No drink in this area.” As the man is forced to pour his drink away, the gang member continues: “What this is, is a Muslim Patrol. We are Muslims and we patrol the area. Forbidden … evil. Alcohol is evil. No alcohol. Yes? Have a good day.”

The video, posted to YouTube, has since been removed.

As early as 2008, Michael Nazir-Ali, the former Anglican Bishop of Rochester, warned that multiculturalism was creating “no-go areas” where it is too dangerous for non-Muslims to enter. He drew support from David Davis MP, who was at the time shadow Home Secretary. Davis said: “Bishop Nazir-Ali has drawn attention to a deeply serious problem. The Government’s confused and counter-productive approach risks creating a number of closed societies instead of one open, cohesive one. It generates the risk of encouraging radicalisation and creating home-grown terrorism.”

Nazir-Ali’s comments came in an article he wrote for the Sunday Telegraph, which has since been removed from their site.

Seven years later his words were echoed by Mr Farage on last night’s edition of Hannity. The Ukip leader highlighted the growing problems of female genital mutilation, for which no prosecutions have been brought despite the practice being illegal, and cases in which women have been allowed to migrate to Britain to enter into polygamous marriages, despite the practice also being against UK law.

He said: “We’ve been turning a blind eye to preachers of hate that have been coming here from the Middle East and saying things for which the rest of us would be arrested.

“In parts of northern England we’ve seen the sexual grooming of under-age girls committed by Muslim men, in the majority, and for all of these things we are seeing the law not being applied equally, we’re seeing the police forces not doing their job because we’ve suffered from moral cowardice.

“There have been tens of thousands of female genital mutilations carried out. Despite that there has been not a single prosecution for FGM

“We even, a few years ago, had some quite clear examples where the immigration services were actually allowing women to come into Britain from Pakistan and elsewhere to join polygamous marriages – something that is against our law.

“So wherever you look you see this blind eye being turned and you see the growth of ghettos where the police and all the normal agents of the law have withdrawn and that is where Sharia Law has come in.”
