Report: America Buys US-Funded Iron Dome Anti-Missile System from Israel

The United States military has decided to add Israel’s Iron Dome anti-missile system to its arsenal, according to the Israel Defense.

Impressed by the system’s performance of a reported 90 percent hit rate in defending Israelis against Hamas’ rockets during Operation Protective Edge, the U.S. Army will buy one Iron Dome battery and, pending trials, may purchase more units.

The U.S. Congress has continually provided funding to help Israel develop its Iron Dome system.

“Having seen the system proven in war, the U.S. now apparently is considering deploying it to defend military establishments and U.S. soldiers around the world, as its short-range missile defense capability is not in great demand in America,” reported Israel National News’ Arutz Sheva.

Jointly, Israel and the United States will start developing an Iron Dome unit on American soil, it added.
