A poll conducted by the University of Maryland’s School of Public Policy and the Program for Public Consultation shows that “61 percent of Americans” favor working with Iran to defeat the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).
The poll indicates Americans are more interested in working with Iran than with Iraq.
According to The Sydney Morning Herald, the poll “did not go into specifics about what the cooperation [with Iran] would look like.” But it does show an increase in support over similar polls conducted as recently as June, when only “53 percent of respondents” supported working with Iran.
The University of Maryland poll also found that 61 percent of Americans supported “a long-term agreement that would limit Iran’s enrichment of uranium and force it to accept intrusive inspections of its nuclear program.”
