On June 28 Syrian TV accidentally flashed the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand as breaking news.

Ferdinand was killed on June 28, 1914, in what is widely regarded at the catalyst to World War I.

Syrian TV aired: “Flash ’20 injured as explosion targets Archduke’s convoy.'”

Ferdinand was felled by an assassin’s bullet during mid-morning hours in Sarajevo. The attempt on his life that succeeded came after an explosive device thrown at him detonated from too great a distance to harm him earlier in the morning.
