Spain Arrests Former Gitmo Detainee For Alleged ISIS Recruiting

On June 16 Spain’s interior ministry said they had arrested eight persons, including a former Guantanamo Bay detainee, “for allegedly recruiting militants to fight for the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria” (ISIS).

The recruited militants had “already been sent to the Middle East.”

The International Business Times quoted Reuters in reporting the interior ministry said “the main leader of this [recruitment] cell lived in Spain after having spent time at the [U.S. detention center] in Guantanamo, having been arrested in Afghanistan in 2001.”

The ISIS infiltration faced by Iraq is so great that U.S. President Obama is sending troops back to Baghdad.
