On both coasts, Americans are protesting the horror of Sharia-ism. Beverly Hills is exploding about one of its most famous hotels now being owned by the Sultan of Brunei – a country that has recently imposed Sharia law upon its citizens.
Celebrities such as Ellen DeGeneres, Mia Farrow, and Jay Leno are all involved. They are protesting Sharia-ism – the political system through which radical Islam imposes total control on people, especially women who are treated as property and often violently abused, even killed.
Sharia-ism is here in America. A survey by Tahirih Justice Center reports as many as 3,000 forced marriages have occurred in America from 2009 – 2011 across 47 states, in the name of religion, culture, Sharia, or “honor.” Girls – some even in their early teens – and women forced to marry an older unknown relative, often brought over from a native country such as Pakistan, Somalia, or possibly Nigeria.
Protests have likewise broken out at the Nigerian embassy in Washington, as more and more people are demanding the safe return of 276 girls who were kidnapped in Nigeria by the Islamist group Boko Haram. The leader of that group, Abuhakar Shekau, has called these girls “slaves” and has threatened to literally sell them as brides.
It is time to separate Islam the religion, protected under the First Amendment, from Sharia-ism, which is the political movement of control and radical Islam. It is time to draw a line in the sand between religion and control and throw off the nonsensical political correctness that has skewed this debate.
