On March 18th, Ukrainian troops at a base in Crimea reported they were surrounded and under attack by Russian troops. At least one Ukrainian has reportedly been killed and another wounded.
According to The Jerusalem Post, Russians forces are demanding the Ukrainians lay down their arms, but the Ukrainians refuse to do so.
At present, the Ukrainian troops “are barricaded” inside the base and say they “are being stormed” by Russian forces. Among the Ukrainians are 20 military personnel “and 10 to 15 others, including women.”
This incident is reportedly taking place the day after Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a treaty to make Crimea part of Russia.
