Certainly to be placed in the category of records you never want to hold, an Indian woman had ten miscarriages in one night. The multiple miscarriages are being called a new medical record in India.
On Sunday Anju Kushwaha delivered nine of the babies before she even got to the hospital. Anju delivered the last baby when she arrived at the Madhya Pradesh hospital, The Times of India reported.
All of the babies had died in the womb at twelve weeks old. Doctors concluded that the miscarriages were a direct result of Anju’s fertility drug treatment. According to gynecologist Dr. Sumitra Yadav, three of the offspring could have been saved with earlier attention and “reducing the pregnancy.” The doctor said, “It seems that that there was no regular follow-up of her pregnancy after (in vitro fertilization).”
Nadya Suleman, the “Octomom” who gave birth to eight babies in 2009, currently holds the Guinness World Record for most surviving children delivered in a single birth.
