Approximately 100 Iranian lawmakers introduced a bill that “would force [the Iranian] government to increase Uranium enrichment to 60 percent if new sanctions are imposed on the Iranian Republic.”
According to the Associated Press (AP), the bill has been turned in to Parliament, but the time frame for discussing it has not been determined.
This demonstrates that Iranian lawmakers side with President Obama’s opposition to more sanctions from U.S. lawmakers. As Breitbart News reported on December 20, the White House made clear that new sanctions introduced by a bipartisan group of senators would be vetoed.
The AP believes the new Iranian bill is most likely a response to those new sanctions and will “give Iran’s nuclear negotiators more leverage” as they continue in talks with the U.S.
Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, fully supports Iran’s nuclear negotiators, calling them “sons of the revolution.”
