On Monday, responding to critics of his sellout to the Iranian regime on their nuclear development, President Obama took to the podium in San Francisco to blast those who oppose him. “”We cannot rule out peaceful solutions to the world’s problems. We cannot commit ourselves to an endless cycle of conflict,” Obama said.
Obama then added, in an oblique reference to both Congressional critics and the Israeli government, “Tough talk and bluster may be the easy thing to do politically, but it’s not the right thing for our security.” That was a very different message from the message he delivered with regard to Syria just a few months ago, when he routinely threatened military force after drawing a “red line” against Syria’s use of weapons of mass destruction.
Obama continued by saying that any deal with Iran was “not going to be easy” and admitted that “huge challenges remain,” but insisted, “we cannot close the door on diplomacy.” He said that he had come to San Francisco to talk about the spirit of looking “what we can build together.”
