On September 2, Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Representative Ed Royce (R-CA) announced a hearing on Syria to be held on September 4. Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel has been called as a witness.
The purpose of the hearing is “to discuss the Obama’s Administration’s response to the crisis in Syria, including the President’s request for an Authorization for Use of Military Force.”
The hearing will be held in the Rayburn House Office Building.
According to Chairman Royce:
The President’s proposed military response to the use of chemical weapons by the Syrian regime demands thorough and deliberate congressional consideration. This hearing will allow for the Administration to publicly make its case and explain its plan to Congress and the American people.
