Former Obama Syria advisor Frederic Hof has come out foursquare against President Obama’s activities with regard to the Assad regime. “The events of the past ten days suggest that there was no administration forethought to the possibility of a major chemical incident in Syria,” Hof wrote. “The results of this mystifying lack of preparedness have been abysmal.”
“Indeed, presidential uncertainty and talk of a loud but meaningless ‘shot across the bow’ of the Assad regime no doubt leads some to believe that his call for a vote in Congress is less a bow to American constitutionality than a further attempt to kick the can down the road,” Hof continued.
Hof is widely considered a close second to Hillary Clinton; his writing may be designed to provide Clinton, who has remained silent, distance from the Obama Syria policy.
