Saudi Arabia’s leaders have declared they will deliver aid to Egypt as it cracks down “on Islamist [supporters] of ousted president Mohammad [Morsi]” if the U.S. refuses to continue funding.
The Saudis said other Islamic nations will step in and help as well.
According to Al-Arabiya.net, Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal said: “To those who have announced they are cutting their aid to Egypt, or threatening to do that, [we say that] Arab and Muslim nations are rich… and will not hesitate to help Egypt.”
This dovetails perfectly with Egyptian Prime Minister Hazem el-Beblawi’s announcement that he would not be controlled by U.S. threats to cut off aid.
As Breitbart News reported Tuesday, Beblawi said he has “no remorse” for attempts to clear out pro-Morsi, pro-Muslim Brotherhood protesters and that Egypt would find a way “to survive” if the U.S. cuts off aid.
