On Thursday, a group of House Republicans including Speaker John Boehner demanded that the White House turn over emails regarding the Benghazi terrorist attacks on September 11, 2012 that left four Americans dead, including Ambassador Chris Stevens. Boehner wrote, “The truth shouldn’t be hidden from the American people behind a White House firewall.”
This morning, Boehner held a briefing for reporters, at which he said that there were plenty of questions that needed answering. “Our committees’ interim report quotes specific e-mails where the White House and State Department insist on removing all references to a terrorist attack to protect the State Department from criticism for providing inadequate security,” Boehner averred. “I would call on the president to release these unclassified interagency e-mails so the American people can see them.”
Boehner added that there would certainly be more House hearings on Benghazi. The White House has denied that anything of import is happening on the Hill with regard to Benghazi.
