Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL) has been given the leading role on the House Foreign Affairs Committee’s “new Middle East and North Africa subcommittee.”
She was specifically given “jurisdiction over the Middle East,” which is great news for Israel, as Ros-Lehtinen is considered a pro-Israel hawk.
In fact, it was just over a month ago that Ros-Lehtinen spoke on the Senate floor in support of Israel’s right to self-defense and the close ties between Israeli security and U.S. security.
Her defenses of Israel are ubiquitous on the internet.
The House Foreign Affairs Committee consists of 25 Republicans and 21 Democrats.
In addition to the strength Ros-Lehtinen will bring to the Middle East and North Africa subcommittee, Rep. Ted Poe (R-TX) will be the Chairman of the subcommittee for Terrorism, Nonproliferation, and Trade; Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) takes the lead on the subcommittee for Europe, Eurasia, and Emerging Threats.
