Sec. of State Hillary Clinton says that President Obama is willing to talk if Iran is “willing to engage.”
This apparently means the negotiations Presidential Adviser Valerie Jarrett has held in Obama’s stead will be supplanted by talks with Obama himself, should Iran prove ready for “serious negotiations.”
Clinton said that if Iran is ready, the U.S. is also prepared to take “reciprocal confidence-building steps” alongside Iran.
She said the fact that Hamas fired Iranian-made missiles into Tel Aviv from Gaza during the recent conflict is something that can’t be ignored, and that it highlights the danger posed by a nuclear Iran.
In response to Obama’s willingness to come alongside Iran and help them back into the world’s favor, Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi said it all depends on the will of the Islamic Republic’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
