Clinton Eastwood, Kid Rock, and Dennis Miller may be supporting Gov. Romney, but President Obama is not without his own support group in Hugo Chavez, Vladimir Putin, and Cuba’s Castro family.
After Chavez won a questionable election earlier in October, he took time to say that he would vote for Obama and “Obama would vote for him,” if the two men had that chance.
Putin has described Obama as a “genuine person” who “really wants to change much for the better.” And during the summer, Cuban President Raul Castro’s daughter Mariela Castro said, “As a citizen of the world, I would like Obama to win.”
Thus, while Romney is embraced by Americans whose common tie is respect for free markets, a love of liberty and the great traditions of America — traditions they fear are slipping away under Obama — Obama is embraced by international figures with respect for unfettered power, not free markets or liberty.
