Community Organizing Foreign Policy

President Barack Obama has declared: “We killed Bin Laden and Al Qaeda is on the run.” In tonight’s foreign policy debate, it’s fully expected he will use these “accomplishments” as a shield from Mitt Romney’s attacks. President Obama will also blast Mitt Romney for having no foreign policy experience, implying he is not qualified to be Commander-in-Chief.

Five years ago, when then-Senator Obama announced he was running for President, his main qualification was his experience as a “community organizer.” While the right laughed and joked about the title, the left held the position in high regard. Basically, they established Obama as the Commander-in-Chief of Organizing Chicago.
Yet no one ever asked the question: is Chicago really a model we want to use for the rest of the country–or for the rest of the world?

Recently, Diane Sawyer met with a group of gang members and violence prevention advocates in Chicago.  Also present was Father Michael Pfleger, a controversial pastor in Chicago that stood up for Obama’s former pastor Jeremiah Wright when Obama threw him under the bus. The discussion was focused on how to stop the violence.

According to Sawyer’s press release there was

a 40 percent increase in gang related activity from 2009 to 2011. This year alone there have been more than 400 people killed in Chicago, marking more lives lost there than soldiers killed in Afghanistan.

Chicago is the third biggest city in the United States and has been a bastion of progressive polices for over 50 years.

If you look at the poverty, unrest, violence, and social breakdown in Obama’s “community organized” Chicago, is there any wonder why the Middle East is on fire with him in the White House?  

The same policies that have led to more deaths on the streets of a single American city than a warzone abroad are now being used to assist the overthrow of American allies in the Middle East and to negotiate with our enemies–as in the recently announced, and denied, one-on-one talks with Iranian president Mahmoud Amedinajad, and Obama’s promise of more “flexibility” with Vladimir Putin in Russia on missile defense.

Four years after Obama left Chicago, there is no real hope and change. The biased media don’t mind pointing out the consistent death and destruction, especially of the poorest among us, for ratings or to soothe their (predominantly) white guilt.

One can only hope that one day they will actually connect the Community-Organizer-in-Chief with the community he helped to destroy, and the Commander-in-Chief with the policies of leading from behind that led to the death of an American Ambassador and three other brave Americans in Benghazi.
