Libyan Terrorist, Freed During Arab Spring, Participated in Benghazi Attack

A Libyan militant who attacked the U.S. consulate in Benghazi was freed from prison during the Arab Spring.

Reports have emerged that the Arab Spring uprisings throughout the Middle East and North Africa led to the emptying of prisons, and as result, the freeing of some terrorist fighters who been detained. One such fighter, Muhammad Jamal Abu Ahmad, was freed during the Arab Spring only to take part in the Sept. 11 attacks on the U.S. consulate last month. 

Ahmad had strong ties to Al-Qaeda and reportedly petitioned Al-Qaeda leaders for permission to begin his own Al-Qaeda affiliate group.

President Obama praised the chaotic Arab Spring as it was unfolding, and even spoke highly of it last week during his speech at the U.N.
