To date, Rep. Michele Bachmann has faced opposition from Senator John McCain, House Speaker John Boehner, Rep. Keith Ellison, and many others, because of her calls for an investigation into possible ties between Huma Abedin and the Muslim Brotherhood. And on July 24, former Obama Green Czar Van Jones cited his opposition to her as well, telling his supporters that it was time to “punish Bachmann.”

Jones concurred with Karen Finney’s call to have Bachmann removed from the House Intelligence Committee for suggesting the investigation of Abedin.

The problem with Jones’ statements is the same problem we’ve seen heretofore with McCain’s, Boehner’s and everyone one else’s. Namely, they are all quick to criticize Bachmann but none are able to erase the growing body of evidence that shows alleged ties between Abedin and the Muslim Brotherhood.

Consider Andrew McCarthy’s column from July 24. Besides reiterating two points which have become common knowledge, that Abedin’s mother is a member of the Muslim Sisterhood and her brother has alleged ties with Omar Naseef and Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi, two of the most influential terror supporters in the world, McCarthy also shows that Abedin herself was “a member of the Institute of Minority Muslim Affairs (IMMA)…until 2008.” (The IMMA was backed by Naseef, one of the very terror supporters with whom Abedin’s brother has alleged ties.)

McCarthy also showed that under the auspices of the IMMA, Abedin’s mother published a book called Women in Islam, which guided women toward proper conduct under Sharia law. Moreover, Abedin’s mother received guidance for the book from one of the Muslim Brotherhood’s “leading theorists,” Sayyid Qutb.

And on and on the list goes, yet Van Jones says it’s time to punish Bachmann for wanting to investigate Abedin’s alleged ties to the Muslim Brotherhood?
