Today on Frank Gaffney’s Secure Freedom Radio, for our special Labor Day Show retired four-star General Jack Keane joins Frank to discuss the remarkable turnaround in Afghanistan after the surge in forces in 2009. Although he does not want to be “Pollyannish” about it, Gen. Keane is encouraged about the successes in the South, which has allowed American forces to take control of the “birthplace and stronghold” of the Taliban. The combination of forces have “enabled us to very aggressively deal with the enemy and protect the population,” he says, allowing the Afghan people to align with our cause. The General also dissects the military implications for the region from Pakistan, Iraq, Libya and more. Finally he urges the need for the U.S. to keep “head in the game” in facing the harsh realities of the Arab Spring and potential draconian cuts to defense.
