Iran Unveils New Cruise Missile

From the Tehran Times:

TEHRAN – Iran on Tuesday unveiled some domestically manufactured military equipment including a cruise missile, a torpedo, and an engine.

Qader missile, Valfajr torpedo, and 850-horsepower Bonyan-1 engine were unveiled during a ceremony attended by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Defense Minister Ahmad Vahidi and a number of high-ranking military officials.

Qader missile, with a range of 200 kilometers can hit targets both on land and in the sea and it flies at low altitude.

Valfajr, with a 220-kilogram warhead, is capable of destroying large battleships and it can function both in shallow and deep waters.

Ahmadinejad said Iran’s defense system is simply intended for deterrence and that the Islamic Republic has never used its military might to attack other countries, he noted.

The best way to deter the enemy is to make it clear it will receive a crushing response, should it attack, he opined.
