Mark Steyn: Get Ready for Armageddon

Today on Frank Gaffney’s Secure Freedom Radio, Mark Steyn previews his latest book After America: Get Ready for Armageddon. A follow up to his best-selling book America Alone, Steyn now explains the existential threat that entitlements and globalization pose to our country, which he asserts is now past decline and accelerating toward collapse. “We can’t form a commission, a committee and wait for it to report that Medicare needs to raise the age from 65 to 67 by 2050. It’s happening now,” he says as he offers his prescription for turning America around. Steyn explains how it is not possible for America to be a large Portugal, with cradle to grave entitlements, and simultaneously remain a global military power. He contends it is wicked and immoral for “strutting buffoons in Washington” to hide behind claims of compassion while robbing from future generations. “Our grandchildren will dig up our bones and toss them on a huge bonfire for the hell hole we have left them unless we correct that kind of thinking,” he says. Steyn’s apocalyptic tale serves as a purpose to dig America out of the “big welfare dependency swamp,” and avoid a fate that he believes is coming within the next decade.
