Today on Frank Gaffney’s Secure Freedom Radio, Retired LTG William “Jerry” Boykin, one of the original members of the US Army’s Delta Force, discusses the recent helicopter crash in Afghanistan that led to the deaths of 30 American soldiers, 22 of whom were members of Seal Team Six. The devastating loss was a result of an inadequate Chinook helicopter used to transport the team, says Boykin, which is not designed for special operations missions. The crash is reflective of the overall war strategy, he says, where decisions are motivated by cost-effectiveness and political expediency, with a pending drawdown and a transfer from traditional combat units to special operations forces. “That is absolutely the worst decision that we could make in terms of national security,” the Former US Deputy Undersecretary of Defense for Intelligence says, not because of a lack of competence from our special forces, but a because of the rising threats we face around the world, from Iran to North Korea and others.
