Assad Weary As His Influence Diminishes

For the first time during Assad’s assault on his own people, his neighbors and historical allies are calling for him to step down. Most notably was Turkey’s decision to go public by asking Assad to step down so that his government could transition and he could avoid a Saddam-like fate. Other Arab countries recalled ambassadors while criticizing the violence.
