Sounding like a board member for Greenpeace, Iran’s nuclear-war threatening President explained at a meeting of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) that all environmental problems are caused by capitalism.
“The main factor behind the destruction of the environment is the greed and the ceaseless avarice and insatiable hunger of the world’s capitalists.”
and…
“The world’s capitalists, through intensifying excessive consumption and even the creation of false demands with the aim of maximum profits, disrupt the balance of nature.”
He went on to explain that Iran, to set a good example, will no longer sell its oil to the industrialized west, but instead just give it away. Okay, well I made that part up.
But I guess I must have missed part of the speech. I didn’t find the part where he explained why communist countries have pollution, too. Ever hear of Chernobyl?
Ahmadinejad did go on to explain that the size of earth’s population was also a factor, pointing out that just two or three countries account for half of the world’s population. Yes, by all means, let this man have nuclear weapons.
