Arizona is the busiest gateway for illegal immigrants and pot smugglers so state officials have a solution. While the federal government doesn’t want to build a fence and the state can’t afford it, they are hoping that people will donate to cover the costs. State Senator Steve Smith and Arizona Governor Jan Brewer are both pushing the idea, which would accept online donations. Anyone who donates will receive a certificate which declares that the contributor “helped build the Arizona wall.”

By some estimates, it costs between $400,000 and $1.8 million per mile to build a fence.

Says Senator Smith, “We’re going to build this site was fast as we can, and promote it, and market the heck out of it.”
