Egyptians Enjoying Their New Freedoms

This should come as pleasant news to freedom lovers everywhere, but especially to the red, white and blue thumb-suckers at Commentary and The Weekly Standard. Just as they predicted, democracy is beginning to flourish in “liberated” Egypt. For one thing, “the moderate” Mohamed El Baredei, who is seeking the presidency, is taking full advantage of freedom of speech. Why just yesterday he declared, without a hint of trepidation, that “if Israel attacked Gaza we would declare war against the Zionist regime.”

His use of “Zionist regime,” a quaint term lifted from the terrorists’ training manual, and his preemptive declaration of war, would never be allowed in Mubarak’s Egypt. My guess is it was an amateurish slip of the tongue by a man who is still getting the hang of the democracy thing.
