Stay Out of Libya

It’s a complicated situation. Gaddafi is part of the Islamic extremism that targets the U.S. – but largely at his whim. He probably ordered the bombing of Pan Am flight 103, killing over 250, including Americans. Reagan immediately bombed his residence for the Berlin Disco murders, bringing him under control.

But that was back in the 1980s and we’ve lost the chance for quick action in Libya today. Obama dithered, if he cared at all. To try and topple Kadafi now with such an indecisive leader could be disastrous. We’re spread too thin already with troops fighting wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. We had our chance to support democracy at the beginning and blew it.

And how can we be sure that the rebel regime would be better? It will be Islamic and ripe for the picking. Libya is an Islamic country. The Jihad is there and wants to control all of North Africa as a staging area. At least with Gaddafi in control of the country, his own whims and desires take priority. It’s a dilemma.

But the bottom line, it appears to me, is the Obama administration is too indecisive and weak to do the job right. We lost our chance. Stay out.
