This is definitely not your father’s navy. The Associated Press reports:
“JOINT BASE CHARLESTON, S.C. — Air Force and Navy officials at South Carolina’s Joint Base Charleston are hosting more than 700 fifth-graders in a celebration of Earth Day.
The Navy’s new “hybrid” jet unveiled on Earth Day
Base spokesman Thomas Kistler says Wednesday’s event features displays by various government and environmental organizations. The event is being held to teach the youngsters the importance of the environment around them as well as the many professions that deal with the environment.
State and federal agencies taking part include the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control, the Audubon Society, the Nature Conservancy and the Charleston County Soil and Water Conservation District.”
