Grenades, Shootings, Bombings: Is It Iraq? No, Mexico…

Doesn’t this sound like Iraq? After the arrest of a drug kingpin in Guadalajara, Mexico, this is what happened:

– A grenade thrown at a police station on the Zapotlanejo highway in Tonala. No injuries were reported.

– Armed men hijacked trucks and blocked the Chapala-Guadalajara highway at kilometer nine near the Hotel Quinta Florida. Access from Guadalajara to the airport was temporarily blocked. Police arrested two men at the scene.

– Shots fired and a molotov cocktail thrown at two Nissan cars on Avenida Vallarta and Avenida Central in Zapopan.

– A group of men in Tlaquepaque failed in their attempt to set fire to two cars. Instead, they broke windshields and fired shots into the air. No one was injured. Police arrested three minors.

– Gunmen forced a driver to get off his bus in the Las Fuentes neighborhood (Avenida Lopez Mateos and Las Fuentes). They then set the vehicle on fire, blocking the street.

– Unconfirmed reports suggest there were also attempts to block the Tren Ligero (subway) line.
