Muslim TV Station Owner in New York Says He Beheaded His Wife in Self-Defense; Jury Convicts Anyway

“The founder of a Muslim-oriented New York television station has been convicted of beheading his wife after the court rejected his self-defence plea.

Muzzammil ‘Mo’ Hassan, 46, never denied that he killed Aasiyah Hassan, 37, in 2009 inside the suburban Buffalo station the couple established to promote cultural understanding.

But the jury of eight men and four women yesterday rejected his claim he was the victim of spousal abuse and murdered her on self-defence.

The trial lasted three weeks and deliberations lasted only one hour before Hassan – who acted as his own lawyer – was found guilty of second degree murder.”
