Hot Air v Big Peace On The USS Enterprise Story

Someone sent along a link to Ed Morrisey’s Hot Air post on a USS Enterprise video kerfuffle I haven’t been following. When I first saw Captain’s Quarters years ago, the old naval battleships in the banner left, in my opinion then, the false impession Ed was an old Navy guy with some salt in his blood.

I suspect that we’ll hear defenses of Honors relying on warrior mentality and the need to bond with the crew, but this goes far enough beyond the boundaries of taste that a “you need me on that wall” moment won’t have much impact. Besides, a claim that the rigors of war requires a burlesque show might have a bit of a credibility issue.

But then, I’ve never taken much time to check “about’ pages, and so forth – except sometimes when there’s a babe involved! Heh!

My original Typepad blog had an explanation of the origins of “Captain Ed”, but here it is again so I don’t mislead people by mistake … It’s a nickname bestowed on me by a former girlfriend during a time in my life when I was a huge Star Trek fan, and had named my first car the Carship Enterprise, and had bought a license-plate frame with that on it. For a birthday gift, she got me a set of personalized license plates that read CPTN ED to fit within it.

So, I checked in to see what has been posted at Big Peace.

Jim Uncle Jimbo Hanson posts, Those ‘Sordid’ USS Enterprise Videos? This Guy is Guilty of Being….a Fighter Pilot

Says Andrew Marcus, Those USS Enterprise ‘Scandal’ Videos Are No Scandal, Except to Thin-Skinned Wusses

I don’t know, don’t necessarily have a dog in the fight – haven’t even bothered to view the video. But then, I never have gotten the whole Trekkie thing, either. Right now, I’m thinking I might prefer having Hanson and Marcus watching my back just a bit more than these two guys fwiw.

Writes Marcus at Big Peace with a video embed.

Here is the final “episode” of the series, which contains a compilation of some of the controversial material. WARNING: Very attractive Navy personnel at 8:25, 10:44, and 10:50. Also, don’t miss the shower scene at 6:00

Beyond that, I think I’ll just leave this one at, we report, you decide.
