President Obama has bypassed the US Senate and appointed an Ambassador to Syria. Why bypass the Senate? Because numerous senators objected to the appointment on the grounds that sending an Ambassador simply rewards Syria’s bad behavior. In addition to sponsoring terrorism, and trying to undermine neighboring Lebanon by sponsoring assassins, Syria continues to insist that pretty much everything wrong with the world is the fault of Israel and the U.S.
Seemingly never passing up an opportunity to look weak, Obama made the appointment just weeks after Syria snubbed the US. when President Bashar Assad told a Syrian newspaper that the US “creates chaos every place it enters.” A State Department spokesman at the time responded by saying, “We believe we’re playing a constructive role in the region, and we believe that Syria is not.” Oh, that’s a good reason to throw them a diplomatic rose.
You simply can’t make this stuff up.
